Although Caddy should be focusing its efforts with the launch of the 2015 model year CTS and fine-tuning the 2016 CTS-V, something big came up and it's not pretty at all. A call back operation was announced on June 30th, but GM ordered dealers only recently to stop selling defective CTS and SRX models from their used-car inventories.
What that means is that an undisclosed number of second-hand Caddies were sold from June 30th to July 8th through official channels even though the dealers knew about a potentially hazardous fault. The same fault that was linked to the death of 13 people and over 50 injured in accidents involving vehicles fitted with sub-standard ignition switches. Human error or not, this late reaction from Cadillac is not cool at all.

The stop-sale order includes all 2003 to 2013 models of the CTS Sedan, Coupe and Sport Wagon, as well as SRX mid-size crossover SUVs from the 2004 - 2006 model years. Combined, the June 30th recall numbers circa 616,179 Cadillac vehicles. So why the stop-sale order from GM? Well, it seems like a viable fix hasn't been found for the affected cars. It boggles the mind how negligent and stupid General Motors handles its problems nowadays. But that's not the end of the ridiculousness of it all...

As it happens, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration published a very interesting piece of info this weekend. Specifically, three General Motors employees were met with "unintentional ignition key movement" that shut off the engine, power steering and airbags of three 2012 Cadillac CTS models. When the automaker's ill-judged ignition switch fiasco puts even GM employees at risk, then the situation has really got out of hand and then some…

If you happen to own a CTS or SRX, we urge you to contact your local Cadillac dealer as soon as possible.
