Cadillac CTS Is the Best-Selling Mid-Size Luxury Coupe in America

Available at US dealerships starting mid-2010, the 2011 CTS Coupe has enjoyed a great deal of success, quickly becoming one of the most acclaimed new cars for the 2011 model year. Now, the automaker has stated that it has become America’s best-selling mid-size luxury coupe.
GM sold 15,771 Cadillac CTS Coupes in September, taking up an almost unheard of 27 percent of overall sales. The industry average for coupe sales is 9 percent among luxury automakers.

“The launch and sales of the CTS Coupe has been an unqualified success and sets the stage for the all-new ATS and XTS models as a critical step in Cadillac’s brand renaissance,”
said Kurt McNeil, vice president of Cadillac Sales and Service.

The car is powered by a direct injected 3.6l V6 unit that develops 304 horsepower, paired to a six-speed manual transmission. Fuel consumption rating is estimated at 27 mpg (8.7 l/100km) highway. The CTS Coupe is priced at $38,990.

That’s only the regular version, but they also make a CTS-V with 556 horsepower, which reportedly accounted for 20 percent o coupe sales.

“Meanwhile, the SRX midsize luxury crossover, which saw its share jump from ninth in the segment to second after its redesign a year earlier, is also vying for the top spot in its segment. Cadillac sold 4,901 SRXs in September, just 102 units fewer than the segment leader. Escalade continues to lead the full-size luxury SUV segment sales in the United States with total sales of 2,414 units in September,”
Cadillac said about its other sales achievements.
