For the 2017 model year, the crown jewel of General Motors is offering ATS and CTS buyers with the chance to spruce things up. As the name implies, the Carbon Black Sport Package has been developed to enhance the exterior looks of both models.
For the 2017 Cadillac ATS Luxury and the Premium Luxury in sedan or coupe form, the Carbon Black pack includes goodies such as a front grille and a rear fascia applique with a black chrome finish, black finish for the side window moldings and body-colored door handles, After Midnight dark finish wheels, and the spoiler from the V-Series. Inside, you get Recaro front seats and low-gloss carbon fiber interior trim.
In the case of the 2017 Cadillac CTS Luxury and the V-Sport Premium Luxury in sedan form, the package beautifies the car with the Black Chrome grille, After Midnight wheels, V-Series spoiler, carbon fiber interior trim, and performance front seats. Sporty Recaro seats are standard only on the V-Sport Premium.
As for the twin-turbo V6-engined ATS-V sedan and coupe, the Carbon Black Sport Package from Cadillac ups the ante with carbon fiber interior bits and bobs, sueded steering wheel and shifter, and Recaro V-Series front seats. The CTS-V sedan, on the other hand, gets a lot more: Black Chrome grille, After Midnight wheels, carbon fiber for the front splitter, hood vent trim, rear diffuser, and a marginally taller spoiler made from the same material, as well carbon fiber trim and V-Series performance front seats.
Now that we've covered that mouthful, bear in mind that the 2017 Cadillac ATS is not available with the 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. As a substitute, the entry-level powerplant for the ATS is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-banger with 272 horsepower and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. As expected, this change comes with an increase in the suggested retail price: $35,590 or $1,380 more than the 2016 MY.
If it were your $35,590 on the line, would you spend that amount of money on an ATS or a BMW 3 Series?
