Corvette design is not a linear evolution, like the Porsche 911. But most of them have one thing in common, and that's a triangular shape for the nose. Two lines meeting at an angle also define the nose of the C8 Corvette, even though it's so different from all its predecessors.
In some ways, it's all down to the 1970s. In the era of double-knit polyester and Farrah's hot hair, we also got the wedge design. Cars that looked like door stoppers represented the future, and it wasn't always as wild as the Lancia Stratos Zero concept.

No, that era of design also evolved into the famous DeLorean DMC-12 or the BMW M1, and of course the Countach. As for the Corvette, the C3 made between 1968 and 1982 was also quite wedge-like, and you can't deny a little bit of its DNA trickled down to the modern C8.

But one artist decided to go full-retro with his radical redesign. It obviously has no place in the real world, but it's quite interesting what mick_em_all has done to the front end. It's like one of those plows they put on the front of locomotives. And with a headlight delete, it becomes impossible to place this 'Vette in any particular era.

Another inspiration appears to be the Ferrari Testarossa, or perhaps the cheaper 348. These children of 1980s Italy donate their side vents to the first Corvette that needs to feed an engine at the back with air. It's also giving off Cizeta vibes, though not many people remember that car. Meanwhile, the rear presents us with a thick new bumper, quad exhausts, and a forward-swept wing.

"The C8 is a vastly different car than the previous models and personally I prefer the older ones. Still, the mid-engined proportions and complex, angular shapes made for a fun challenge and resulted in a retro/futuristic hybrid," the renderer says in his post.
