General Motors was incredibly successful in pushing forward the new mid-engine setup of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and probably the biggest issue for 2020 was coping with demand. Fans, naturally, are always on the lookout for the next iteration, and Chevy tries not to disappoint, especially since it’s already behind schedule.
We already know that things didn’t actually go down as planned for the evolution of the C8 Corvette series – but then again, 2020 was anything other than a typical year. This leaves fans trying to catch heavily camouflaged prototypes of the next evolutionary step instead of already admire about the real thing.
The Corvette team is hard at work testing prototypes, though, and we recently caught wind of a YouTube sighting that highlighted some vehicles being accompanied by an Accelerate Yellow Stingray during high-altitude trails.
That was just the appetizer as now the entire story unfolds with all its surprising twists. After a quick reminder of what happened before, the action starts from the 0:45 mark with the prototypes trying to make a run for cover – seeking the safety of putting some other road participants in between them and this spotter’s neat-looking Black Rose Z06.
The driver easily keeps up with the pace of the convoy and we get to see them alongside the readouts of the C7’s performance data recorder. There’s also a neat soundtrack, both from the exhaust system and that song from the four-minute mark.
After some spirited mountain driving, the scenery changes to an unspecified town from the 4:35 mark, and we recommend watching the video (embedded below) until the very end because from the seven-minute mark we see the filmer follow the test team to their hotel.
Once there, we’re greeted by a surprising sight – the parking lot is filled with Chevrolets: three C8 Stingrays accompany a roster of five prototypes, all but one safely tucked under their tarps for protection against the weather and prying eyes.
