At $59,995 including destination charge, there’s no denying the C8 Corvette is great value for money considering the LT2 offers 490 horsepower as standard and Chevrolet throws in a fast-shifting DCT. Given the hype surrounding the mid-engine sports car, there’s no denying that U.S. dealerships will attempt to mark up the price of the eighth generation.
This is where the Corvette Forum and countless customers step in, updating a thread titled “official list of dealers at MSRP or not.” The first response comes from Les Stanford Chevy in Dearborn, claiming that “we’re selling our C8s at MSRP and allocation is still available.” With this in mind, now’s the type to decide which dealer is worth your time and money.
Bob Stall Chevrolet of La Mesa took to Facebook, announcing that “all of our customers who place a deposit will pay MSRP on their C8 Corvette.” Given the markups for the 2020 Toyota GR Supra and Shelby GT500, it is surprising how a handful of enthusiasts and an online community have stopped dealers from getting too greedy with a $59,995 sports car.
There are a few exceptions to the rule, however. A forum member placed a deposit ahead of the price announcement, then got a reply from the dealership. It read: “Due to supply and demand we will be selling the new 2020 Corvette at MSRP with an addendum of $10,000 for the first three to six months based on demand.” Oh well, that’s another definition of capitalism.
Most customers are certain to get the Z51 Performance Package, which unlocks the potential of the Corvette Stingray for an additional $5,000. Be the Z51 or the sports exhaust, the LT2 upgrades to 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque for a sub-three-second acceleration to 60 mph.
The 3LT is the range-topping trim, and Chevrolet wants $70,850 for it. A front-suspension lift system is also available for $1,495, and regardless of options, top speed is rated at 194 miles per hour (312 km/h).
