If we judge by the MSRP for the 2020 models, the C8 Chevrolet Corvette sits just $9,000 above the Mk V Toyota Supra. As such, the relatively small gap between the starting prices of the base models has convinced many gearheads to compare the two machines. So here we are, talking about a drag race involving the Japanese sportscar and the slab of America.
Now, anybody who knows a thing or two about... maths can tell you that the Toyota doesn't stand a chance against the Chevy. Sure, the latter is slightly less friendly to the scales, but the BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six of the Supra delivers 335 hp (this jumps to 382 hp for the 2021 model year), while the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 occupying the middle section of the 'Vette deliver 495 ponies.

Nevertheless, the example we have here had been taken to the gym, being fitted with a custom downpipe and a tune.

"So, where does that leave us?" I hear you asking. Well, according to the owner of the front-engined toy, the said treatment has brought a premium of around 100 horses.

Now, the two go-fast machines duked it out on the street, but please keep in mind not to use this as an example and head over to the drag strip when you feel it's time for battle.

Most shenanigans of the sort involve rolling starts, since these reduce the risk of sliding, minimize wear, cause less traffic disruption and allow the drivers to disappear into the horizon quicker. However, the adventure we have here is different, so you'll get to see a dig battle. Oh, and  you should know the sprinting action discussed above awaits you at the 6:44 point of the clip below.

PS: If you're willing to check out a race that sees the C8 Corvette as the underdog, this battle against the Viper should have you covered.
