C8 Corvette Drag Races R35 Nissan GT-R, Dodge Challenger 392, El Camino, Camaro

Even if not equipped with the Z51 Performance Package that costs $5,995 for the 2021 model year, the mid-engine Corvette is very impressive on the strip. You can thank the DCT supplied by Tremec and rear-biased weight distribution for the go-faster credentials. Add a set of drag radials to the mix, and you’ll easily exceed the claimed quarter-mile time of 11.2 seconds.

Coming courtesy of Drag Racing and Car Stuff, the following clip shows how much of a difference the slicks make over the Michelin compounds that come standard from the factory. First time out on the track, the C8 lines up against a Nissan GT-R that finished the quarter-mile run in 10.6 seconds at 130 mph (209 kph) versus 10.8 seconds at 124 mph (199.5 kph) for the sports car from Kentucky.

Next up on Bradenton Motorsports Park’s blacktop, the Corvette dukes it out against a Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack powered by 6.4-liter HEMI V8. Understandably, the Mopar muscle car suffers from a bit of wheel spin at the start and fails to make up the huge gap to the C8 across the finish line.

The third contender is a bit of a riot. Not only are we dealing with a late-model El Camino, but the Chevy truck spits flames from the exhaust pipes during the warm-up burnout and is also rocking extra-wide rear tires and a parachute. Be that as it may, the Elky couldn’t keep up with the Stingray. The two unlikely rivals finished the run in 10.8 and 11.3 seconds, respectively.

As for the final showdown, the white-painted Stingray didn’t break a sweat against a fourth-generation Camaro that ran 12.3 seconds at 108 mph (173.8 kph). By comparison, the 495-hp Corvette posted 10.7 seconds at 125 mph (201.1 kph). The best time, however, isn’t featured in this video but on the owner's Instagram.

According to the slip posted by @car_c8 on the social media network, 10.77 seconds at 125.55 miles per hour (202 kph) is possible with “a little bit of good air.”
