The C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhwak might not strike one as the kind of pair that's fit for a drag race. However, things look different if you take a look at the factory quarter-mile times of the two slabs of America.
You see, the Chevy might be quite a bit low on power compared to the Jeep (think: 495 vs 707 ponies), while the latter can also rely on its all-paw hardware for the launch, but the mid-engined machine is a world lighter, since the two are separated by around 1,700 lbs (771 kg). Besides, the dual-clutch tranny of the Corvette shifts quicker than the automatic of the Grand Cherokee, even though the latter isn't too shabby either.

Nevertheless, both the C8 Corvette Stingray and the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk are capable of delivering mid-11s quarter-mile times in factory form.

And while the 'Vette we have here came to the battle in such fashion, we can't say the same about its high-riding opponent. To be more precise, the Hellcat heart of the Jeep has been gifted with goodies such as customer upper and lower pulleys, mid-pipes, a new fuel system and throttle body, along with an oil catch can.

Thus, the blown 6.2-liter HEMI now delivers around 900 horsepower, while the vehicle has also been fitted with lowering springs.

For the record, you can skip straight to the 12:54 point of the video below, since that's where the quarter-mile action starts. Fortunately, these drivers did the right thing and took the battle to the drag strip, as should anybody in the mood for velocity battles.

And while the C8 Chevrolet Corvette and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk raced on multiple occasions, one of their quarter-mile stunts saw the super-SUV launching in RWD mode, so you can get a complete take on this 1,320 feet stunt.
