In recent memory, yours truly has covered a particularly woeful crash of the C8 Corvette. The accident involved the drunk driver of a black sedan, but the woeful part of that crash is that the mid-engine sports car was rendered into a wreck just 24 hours after the owner took delivery.
Happily, however, the silver lining is that the C8 Stingray Z51 in question will get a new life thanks to a turbo four-rotor swap. YouTube vlogger Rob Dahm intends to build a modern Aerovette with 1,000 horsepower (1,014 PS) or so, but only time will tell when we'll see the project finished.

The white-painted ‘Vette in the first two photos of the gallery? Well, that car doesn’t have a backstory. Two images were posted on the C8 Corvette group on Facebook without so much of a description or any kind of detail in the comments. And yes, it has been crashed pretty hard.

Starting with the rear end, the passenger-side wheel doesn’t look exactly good. The black-painted wing is broken, there's mud and grass on the door and side intake, and the passenger’s airbags can also be seen through the window. Further up front, the car is a downright mess.

From the look of it, the C8 Stingray Z51 has slid a bit through the field before coming to a halt. The muddy field and wet blacktop lead us to speculate that the lack of grip may have had something to do with it. Similarly speculative, high speed or avoiding an animal should be considered too.

Based on the state of the cabin, the driver appears to have walked away from the accident scared but unscathed. Repairing the C8 Stingray Z51 may be harder than the insurance company writing off the car, posting it on Copart like so many other 'Vettes before it. After all, the LT2 small-block V8 engine and eight-speed tranny from Tremec are pretty valuable.
