C8 Corvette 2021 Model Year Detailed, Starting Price Remains Unchanged at $60k

Contrary to previous reports on the 2021 model year of the mid-engined Corvette, the starting price for the 1LT trim without any option whatsoever has been confirmed at $59,995 including destination charge. In other words, the entry-level spec hasn’t gone up by a few grand, mirroring the MSRP of the 2020 model.

Presented online by Tadge Jeuchter and Harlan Charles, the Michelin NCM Virtual Bash has also offered confirmation that 2021 orders “will probably start being accepted in late July.” This timeframe corroborates with the November 2nd start of production at the Bowling Green facility in Kentucky, but still, “there may be some changes in options pricing.” To the point, let’s take a look at the suspension.

For the 2021 model, Chevy is offering no fewer than “for chassis choices,” starting with the FE1 standard chassis. FE2 stands for Magnetic Selective Ride Control, a technology that adjusts the suspension to Tour, Sport, and Track settings. FE3 is included in the Z51 Performance Package, and FE4 is pretty much the same thing but with Magnetic Selective Ride Control on top. As previously reported, FE2 availability will be extended to the Stingray without the Z51 Performance Pack.

Two new exterior colors have been added to the lineup for both the coupe and convertible, namely Silver Flare Metallic and Red Mist Tint Coat Metallic. You can take a look at them in the photo gallery, coming courtesy of midenginecorvetteforum.com member Jagamajajaran from the NCM conference.

From January to April 2020, the C8 Corvette has dominated the “Lux Sport Segment” with 29.3 percent of the volume or 4,977 units. The Porsche 911 and BMW 8 Series lag behind on second and third place while the Mercedes-AMG GT and BMW Z4 settled for fourth and fifth. Even though this sounds good for Chevy, bear in mind that Jan-Apr deliveries are down 16.3 percent over Jan-Apr 2019.

As of May 2020, no fewer than 20,181 orders have been accepted into the ordering system for the C8 Corvette. Most cars have been optioned in Torch Red for the exterior and Jet Black for the interior with Jet Black seatbelts. But that’s not all!

Forum member meyerweb mentioned that Tadge promisedmore news about the 2021 in the nearest of futures, probably referring to new features and options. Don’t get your hopes up for the flat-plane crankshaft Z06, though, because Chevy is likely to have pushed the performance ‘Vette back to the 2022 model year.
