C-Class V205 L Spotted in China With Almost no Camouflage

With less than two weeks until Mercedes-Benz officially takes the wraps off their first ever long-wheelbase C-Class, at the Auto China car exhibition in Beijing, someone with a keen eye and a smartphone decided to snap some photos of the model for the world to see.

We already gave you the first ever spy photos of a Mercedes-Benz C-Class L (V205) a couple of weeks ago, when a slightly-camouflaged pre-prototype was spotted inside a car wash in China.

The long-wheelbase model has been stretched by 60 mm (2.3 inches) compared to a regular C-Class W205, with all the extra space going to support the freakishly long legs of Chinese businessmen who don't want to fork out the extra cash for an E-Class.

As most of you know, owning a car that offers more leg room for the rear passengers is a sign of respect in the Middle Kingdom, even though most Chinese aren't exactly fit to enter the NBA if statistics are to be believed.

The images in the adjacent gallery show a C 260 L model, which will be exclusively sold in China and is powered by a turbocharged two-liter four-pot that develops 211 hp and 350 Nm (258 lb ft) of torque. After the launch there will also be a C 180 L and a C 300 L version to complete the lineup.

In case it wasn't obvious by now, this is the first time in history that Mercedes-Benz has developed a long-wheelbase variant of their smallest sedan, proving once again that they are more than interested in safeguarding a good slice of the sales pie in China.
