Car collectors or enthusiasts in Florida have a new way of storing their prized toys and, at the same time, congregating with like-minded fellows: The Hangar. The Hangar is a luxury private garage condominium that offers storage space of varying dimensions, within a gated community.
What can be more luxurious than buying the equivalent of a mansion for your car(s)? Depending on budget and the car collection in your possession, you can opt for a smaller hangar or duplexes at The Hangar, which you can then furnish to your liking and according to still-available budget. Whichever you choose, you will still get enough space to fit an RV.

The idea is similar to the one behind storage spaces that are rented out on a yearly basis, but it’s meant for a very narrow niche of the public. First of all, hangars here are sold, not rented. Secondly, they’re expensive because they offer, in addition to security, basic amenities and vast amounts of fully customizable spaces, the key for admission in an exclusive (albeit unofficial) club.

“The Hangar is a product of a lifelong passion for motorsports, aviation, music, wine, art, and an appreciation of the finer things in life, while also creating an exclusive social setting for collectors to interact, build new friendships and strengthen old ones,” The Hangar Group says. “A place to enjoy your passions in a safe, private, yet social setting with a community of like-minded enthusiasts was the vision that created The Hangar.”

Behind all these fancy words is a very practical solution to storage issues: buy a hangar here and bring your toys, whether they’re cars, motorcycles, a wine or guitar collection, or anything else you might want to have stored in a secure place, for safe keeping. In addition to storage space, you get access to an Owners Lounge, which is as fancy as its name makes it sound, where you can hang out with your fellow hangar owners.

Moreover, the hangar comes with basic stuff (running water, electricity, WiFi) and is a blank canvas on which you can paint your ideal garage. Situated at Havernhill Business Park in Florida, it’s within minutes of the airport and the Palm Beach International Raceway, and promises to offer you privacy and easy access to the outside world at the same time.

The Hangar offers 41 hangars with sizes between 589 and 2,600 square feet (54.7 and 241.5 square meters) that can be combined, if the future owner wants it. For instance, buying mezzanine space adds 30 percent more space to the hangar, which can be converted into a private lounge. Each unit comes with solid concrete tilt-wall construction with insulated roof, doors and walls, motorized coiling garage doors, private restroom, and superior design and finishes.

Sealed, insulated and Miami-Dade hurricane rated, each unit is “individually temperature and humidity controlled and has its own high efficiency 16 SEER air-conditioning unit that can be remotely monitored and controlled.” Situated within a gated community, The Hangar offers 24/7 access to owners, around the clock security and virtual concierge, which ensures peace of mind to owners wishing to check in on their cars while in the privacy of their (remote) home.

All owners of hangars are welcome to the common area known as the Owners Lounge. It includes a relaxation area, boardroom and other common areas, ideal for anything from taking business calls and holding business meetings, to hanging out with friends to binge-watch automotive content. “Our unforgettable Owners Lounge has comfortable seating and socializing areas as well as a conference room, all furnished exclusively by Roche Bobois,” the Group says.

As of the time of writing, only a handful of units are still available, with prices starting at $214,000 without the extra mezzanine space. This may be a new type of luxury real estate asset but, as it turns out, there are many people out there with enough money to be able to get the best for their cars (and bikes and wine collections). And who could blame them.
