Button Worried about Red Bull Surge

Although he didn't lost too many points to his rivals in the last couple of races, as he is still more than 20 points ahead of Sebastian Vettel with half of season to go, championship leader Jenson Button admitted Red Bull's surge at Silverstone and Nurburgring is quite worrying for his team's 2009 campaign.

Used to winning or at least making the podium in the first 7 rounds of this year, the British driver finished on some disappointing 6th and 5th place respectively, in the last 2 races. He admitted he was expecting at least a podium in Germany, but insisted his team will fight back in Hungary.

From the entire F1 field this year, the BGP 001 has probably the biggest problems when it comes to getting the tires up to temperature during race days. Button's zigzag drive during the late stages of the German Grand Prix was proof enough. However, given the hot temperatures expected at the Hungaroring, the Brawns will not have to fight that again two weekends from now.

I've had a sixth and a fifth in the last two races. Of course I'm worried. I expected more in Germany, I expected to be on the podium, but the race just didn't go well, so you have to worry. But I don't think 'Oh damn, we're going to lose the Championship'. It's 'Come on, let's make the difference,'” said Button after the Nurburgring weekend, as reported by planetf1.com

Now I am looking forward to the next couple of races which could help us, particularly Hungary where we've some new aero parts and it's a hot circuit. I think our car will be strong there, although we don't know how strong. We'll be stronger there I'm sure, and I'm excited to get these last two races out of the way. I just wish we had got a few more points out of them,” added Button, clearly referring to the low-temperature tracks at Silverstone and Nurburgring.

The brawn GP driver is currently 21 points ahead of Vettel in the drivers' classification, while Mark Webber rests 1.5 point further in 3rd place. Rubens Barrichello completes 4 aces atop of the championship, 24 points behind his teammate.
