Button in McLaren Uniform, Sets Aims for 2010 Pre-Season

Jenson Button is more determined than ever to shut out the critics throughout the upcoming season of Formula One, and insisted that the base for securing another title-winning campaign in 2010 is a good preparation before the actual start of the season.

Meaning he'll have to work very hard to maintain his physical state ahead of the new season, but also create a strong relationship with his new mechanics and race engineers in order to be able to challenge Lewis Hamilton's No 1 status within the Woking organization. With the winter testing ban up until the end of January, Button's aim is to integrate perfectly into the new culture of McLaren.

I'm more motivated than ever to work with the team and my engineers, and I've extremely positive for the year ahead. (...) The atmosphere within the team feels fantastic, and I've already started to feel at home here. I can't wait to get out in the fantastic new car the team has built for me!” said Button, according to a press release from McLaren.

His statement came in the same day the first picture with him wearing a McLaren-Mercedes outfit rolled out in the media. While admitting the spare time before testing will give him a chance to become more familiar with the McLaren personnel, the reigning world champion – which nobody even considers for the title fight next year, for one reason or another – admitted he can't wait to get behind the wheel of the MP4-25 on February 1st, at Valencia.

I'll be starting to work with my engineers, who are a fantastic bunch of guys. But, honestly, I really cannot wait to get out to Valencia and get my first run in the MP4-25 – I think that's when it will finally sink in that I'm a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver,” added the 29-year old Brit.

The testing session at the Ricardo Tormo circuit near Valencia will be the first time the F1 teams will have the chance to see their new drivers and cars at work, as it will mark the beginning of the winter testing for the 2010 season.
