Busch Takes Texas for 5th Time in a Row

In what turned out to be a 1-2 for Joe Gibbs Racing at the O'Reilly 300 Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, Kyle Busch took the race for the fifth time in a row, making him the third driver in series history to achieve such a feat.

"Once you figure it out here, you have to stick with it. Something clicked in 2007 here, and I’ve used it ever since," Busch said according to NASCAR.

"I can’t let the secret out of the bag for sure. Joey learned a little bit about it. I told him a little of what I know. Once he pieces the other 20 percent to that, he’s going to be hard to beat too."

Since Denny Hamlin managed to clinch the Sprint Cup earlier in the day, Busch's win also marks the first time a team takes both legs of a same-day NASCAR doubleheader.

Busch was the dominant driver at Texas, having lead 153 of 200 laps. He regained the lead to take the win with 24 laps to go. Only 0.688 seconds behind came his teammate, Joey Logano.

"It was just a phenomenal day," Busch added. "We were able to just run around there all day and bide our time, and there at the end, we were going to try and save fuel and go the rest of the way if need be. But that caution came out, and we had to race Joey for it."

The top five was completed by Reed Sorenson, Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick.
