Bus Driver Endangers Hundreds of Lives for the Sake of a Boom Barrier

The thing with traveling in a large vehicle like a bus is that you don't feel as though anything bad could happen. Even if the bus were to hit something, the sheer size of the vehicle makes it unlikely that you would be affected, since that object would have to go through a lot of steel to reach you.

The same goes for train passengers. Care to venture a guess over which of the two would be more likely to regret their cockiness in case the vehicles they were on crashed? No need to answer that one, anyone who's played Grand Theft Auto V knows the train always wins.

Luckily, somebody thought about this risk a long time ago and devised a system that keeps road vehicles away from the railroad ones. For most of the time, that is, because some intersections between the two are simply unavoidable. And that's where the boom gates step in.

They are helped by a pair of red flashing lights that tell motorists a train is coming and the barriers are about to go down. Some drivers, though, are way too busy being stupid to notice them, so they keep on going forward. This guy appears to realize what's happening too late, so instead of stopping the bus under the barrier, he decides driving into the path of an oncoming train would be a better idea.

Realizing his mistake, he gets as close as possible to the barrier on the other side, but it's still not enough. The rear of his bus is too close to the tracks. He gets out and tries hysterically to stop the who-knows-how-many-tons train waving his arms and jumping in desperation.

The only thing standing in the way of safety for himself, his passengers and the ones on the train as well is a god-damn piece of plastic that he so obstinately does not want to break. So the train - which also happened to be a high-speed one - smacks the rear of the bus budging it forward to snap that barrier clean off. It would have been so simple, and yet that man chose to endanger hundreds of lives instead. Don't be like that man.
