The badge on the frunk may say Porsche. The Porsche script on the taillight strip also brings the point home, yet the 911 Syberia RS isn’t a product of Stuttgart nor from the automaker's research center in Weissach. As the headline implies, Burkhard Industries is the company that came up with this off-road interloper that started out life as a G Model from 1986.
First things first, you may notice that some of the pictures feature the H&R watermark and the YouTube video at the end of this story was uploaded by H&R Spezialfedern. The German suspension designer’s Tailor Made department is responsible for the support bearings and adjustable coilovers with heavy-duty spring plates. In addition to those, the 911 Syberia RS boasts chassis reinforcements for superior off-road durability.

Imported from Japan, the 911 G Model morphed into this fellow here thanks to his owner – Kai Burkhard. In order to make the car adequate for driving off the beaten path, the tires have also been swapped with Hankook DynaPro Mud Terrain rubber boots while the wheels are Fuchs painted in black to go together with the body’s color.

The RS in Syberia RS may be misleading to Neunelfer enthusiasts, but then again, many of the RS clones out there feature ducktail spoiler inspired by the 2.7 Carrera RS that Porsche built in very limited numbers from November 1972 through July 1973.

A pair of rally-inspired auxiliary lights on the hood, the central-exit double exhaust, MOMO steering wheel, a sequential transmission, and the mother of roll cages are also featured, along with a front-bumper winch and a pair of tie-downs at the rear end.

Burkhard Industries didn’t mention a thing about engine mods, but from the sound of it and a particular video on Instagram, there’s no denying we’re dealing with an air-cooled boxer. In any case, approximately 250 horsepower from a six-cylinder motor would be more than enough given the lightweight nature of the one-of-one 911 Syberia RS.

On an ending note, where does Syberia come from? The answer to that comes in the form of the TransSyberia Rally from 2007, stretching over the course of 4,411 miles (7,100 kilometers) from Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia to Moscow in Russia. 34 vehicles were entered, and of those, 25 were the Cayenne S Tarnssyberia factory-built leviathans.
