Bumblebee 2 to Be on Display at Chicago

Transformers was indeed a good action movie and we're not saying that just because Megan Fox and Shia LaBoeuf played in it. As we're sure you remember, the movie brought us a “reincarnation” of the Camaro Concept, the so-called Bumblebee, an autobot that had the ability to transform his right arm into plasma cannons and shoot with powerful missiles using the launches mounted on its shoulders. Well, aside from this sci-fi world, it may seem like the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie expected this fall will be starring Bumblebee 2 or, if you prefer, the the actual production Chevrolet Camaro.

According to the folks over at Autoblog, the new autobot will be based on the production model of Camaro, compared to the first Bumblebee which shared most features with the concept. General Motors hasn't confirmed this information yet but announced the new Bumblebee will be displayed at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show next week.

“On Wednesday, February 11, 2009 Chevrolet and Paramount Pictures are proud to announce the return of Bumblebee to the Chicago Auto Show, in anticipation of the upcoming movie, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." Bumblebee, the heroic autobot based on the Chevrolet Camaro concept, will appear for the first time in public with other new Chevrolet "characters" from the film at a press conference scheduled to begin at 10:15 am CST in the Chevrolet exhibit at McCormick Place,” GM said in a statement for the press.

As you remember, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Jazz and Ratchet autobots were provided by General Motors for the 2007 movie, despite negotiations to replace the Camaro-based Bumbleblee with Volkswagen Beetle. However, according to IMDB.com, producers couldn't get rights from Volkswagen to use Beetle in the movie as the German manufacturer said they risk to damage the model image through this “violent” film.
