Locals in Bhatinda, in Punjab, India, got a fair helping of entertainment on their way to work the other day, when 2 angry bulls wandered into the busy street and started fighting.
There was a considerable element of danger that went with it, but luckily no one was seriously hurt. The scene was caught on camera by passers-by and uploaded online, prompting demands from the public for the government to “stop wild animals roaming the streets,” SWNS notes in the description of the video.
You can see the footage at the bottom of the page. When the video starts, the two animals are already at it, locking horns in the middle of the busy street. Despite the commotion, traffic is relatively unperturbed – that is, until one of the bulls becomes spooked and, in its attempt to retreat, smashes into a passing tuk-tuk and becomes stuck inside.
Not that this discouraged the other bull, which kept poking it with its horns for some time after the crash.
According to SWNS, “the passengers escaped and were taken to hospital for treatment.” You can see one of them climbing out of the rickshaw some time after the impact, after the crowd managed to drive the other angry bull away from its opponent.
The report doesn’t say whether the animal was hurt or what happened to it, and neither does it mention the current condition of the passengers. However, as far as the latter is concerned, one can assume they avoided the worst, since the animal didn’t fall on them but merely got stuck inside the rickshaw. Still, the impact must have been pretty strong.
Collisions between cars and wildlife are quite common in other countries as well, but they’re nowhere near as potentially dangerous as this one, even when factoring in the speed of the vehicle. Locals are justified in their demands for the government to be stricter in terms of keeping wildlife off public roads.
