Building a Porsche 911 Trailer Is One Heck of a Project, Here's a Guide

Why on Earth would a Porsche 911 owner need a trailer? This is a question each track junkie could easily answer. In fact, you don't even need to be a driver who tracks his or her Neunelfer to understand that some people need to take the slicks with them.

There are two main solutions here. You can either go with a roof rack or a trailer. And since the first solution has plenty of limitations, such as the small capacity it offers, so many track aficionados go for the trailer.

Well, one of those aficionados, who happens to be the guy behind the AMMO NYC YouTube channel, decided to go through a trailer-building process for his 964-generation 911.

The man went for a mid-level build in terms of price and documented everything in order to share it with us. His 25-year-old Porsche now has just the right wheeled accessory to allow its driver to have the gear required at the track.

And since the 911 has always been the most practical car of its kind, attaching a trailer only boosts this asset of the German machine.

Fortunately, this is an uber-complete video, one that goes from the early steps that involve making choices to the final stage, which brings us a short test drive, demonstrating the benefits an extra set of wheels on the road can bring.

And while we're at it, we have to mention this Porsche has received a fair amount of attention aimed at making its age invisible. For instance, the back of the car is now occupied by a larger 3.8-liter flat-six, which required a special oil cooler. The list of items that have been touched by the customization wand is longer than that, including stuff like the bushing, steering rack, engine carrier, as well as the motor mounts. That's what you do when you track your senior Porsche.
