Buick Regal Named "Best Upscale Sedan for the Money"

General Motors has one more occasion to praise its products in front of the media, as the 2011 Buick Regal has been named the "Best Upscale Sedan for the Money" by U.S. News & World Report. The Buick model, priced from $26,245 in the United States, competed against BMW and Lexus vehicles, with the award being based on a total of 27 published reviews of the Regal, GM said in a press statement.

“This award confirms what many Buick Regal buyers have already found out,”
said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing. “The Regal delivers a dynamic driving experience that competes with the best import sport sedans in the mid-size car segment. Just as importantly, this sleek, smart, top-safety-rated car is attracting new customers to the Buick brand.”

“The Regal GS will set a new benchmark for performance and value in the midsize segment,” DiSalle said. “It represents the next entry in Buick’s product renaissance.”

While the technical specifications of the 2011 Regal are already well-known in the United States, all eyes are set on the GS version of the car which is expected to arrive sometimes this year.

The 2012 Regal GS will employ an Ecotec 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that will release 255 horsepower and 296 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the car will jump from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just seven seconds. An automatic transmission will be also introduced on the American market at a later date.
