Buick Regal GS to Be Presented in Miami in November

The hottest version of the Opel Insignia-based Buick Regal, the GS, will meet for the first time part of its future customers at a "Regal Remix" event in Miami on November 4. It will be the first time the production version of the car is being shown, after the concept was presented at the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

Those who for some reason cannot attend the event in Miami are invited by Buick to witness the unveiling on the Thrillist website. According to Inside Line, the "Regal Remix" will take place at an yet undisclosed nightclub in Miami Beach. After that, the production version of the Regal GS will go to the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, where it will be presented to the general public.

Although the engine to be fitted into the model has not yet been announced, the concept of the vehicle was equipped with a 2.0l turbocharged four-cylinder engine, smaller than the 2.8l V6 turbo powerplant found on the Opel Insignia OPC counterpart.

As a consequence, the unit on the GS develops only 255 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, compared to the 325 hp and 435 Nm of torque output of the Insignia OPC.

The performances of the vehicle are however somewhat similar to the European version. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission which directs power to the adaptive all-wheel-drive system, the engine propels the car from naught to sixty in less than 6 second. No top speed estimate has been provided, but that is expected to be about the same as for the OPC, namely around 250 km/h (155 mph).
