Buick LaCrosse eAssist Priced at $30,820

Buick's latest venture into the world of hybrids (or micro-hybrids, to be more precise), the eAssist version of the LaCrosse, got a price tag today, after mother company GM announced that the model will retail for $30,860, destination charge included.

Coming to the market with a combination of an internal combustion engine and a small electric motor, the car promises to offer 37 mpg highway fuel economy. The power train of the car is made up of a 2.4l 182 hp engine, as well as a 3.6l V6 unit, capable of developing 303 horsepower, that will be added on select trim levels.

The electric motor, drawing its power from a lithium-ion battery, develops 15 horsepower on its own. Using braking regeneration to capture additional power, the eAssist will also become available on the Regal range later this year.

Otherwise, the eAssist is equipped with pretty much the same features as seen throughout the Buick range, including dual-zone climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, full-color driver information center, and Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

Later in the year, the model will also receive the Buick IntelliLink system, complete with a new 8-inch, high-resolution, full-color touch screen.

“LaCrosse with eAssist is the smart choice for those who want great fuel economy without sacrificing the driving dynamics and passenger comfort that have made Buick the fastest-growing major automotive brand in the United States,” said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing.

“LaCrosse with eAssist is the most advanced LaCrosse to date. The winning combination of advanced technology, no-compromise driving performance and luxurious style and passenger comfort stand to make LaCrosse with eAssist a must-have sedan.”
