Buick Gets New Marketing Executive

Buick is currently playing big cards, as the brand is in the midst of a general makeover that should create its modern image.

We can say that the company has got “marketing” written all over the place, so what can we expect its next move to be? Well, a marketing (executive) change: John Schwegman, U.S. marketing vice president for Buick GMC, announced that the carmaker will get a new product marketing director, in the person of Roger McCormack, with the action becoming effective immediately.

McCormack, 44, formerly served as U.S. vehicle marketing director for Cadillac, since November 2008.

Roger brings a wealth of product and marketing experience to the job, and clearly understands the luxury automotive business, having spent time at Cadillac, HUMMER and Saab,” said Schwegman.  “His expertise will be invaluable in continuing the transformation of Buick.

In his new position, McCormack handles the brand marketing strategy and product planning for Buick’s product portfolio, including the upcoming 2011 Buick Regal midsize sport sedan, which is scheduled to enter the market this spring.

The executive started working for General Motors in 1989, as a field manager for Chevrolet Motor Division. Over the years, he has held multiple management positions in product development, marketing and market analysis. More recently, McCormack was the marketing director for Saab’s U.S. arm. His latest position, U.S. Vehicle marketing director for Cadillac, also made him responsible for Hummer and Saab, for which he handled strategic and tactical marketing, product, pricing and incentive initiatives.
