Buick Envision Concept SUV Teaser Image Released

With China being Buick’s largest market, it was only natural the brand would choose the Asian country as a debut venue for a new concept model that is a preview of what GM’s entry-level luxury brand will be using in future models.

General Motors has also released a teaser image of new Buick concept SUV, while revealing that it will be dubbed Envision. According to GM’s Chinese division, the Envision Concept is set to make its world debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18, 2011.

The Buick Envision is the result of a collaboration between GM Shanghai and the an Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), and it appears that Americans have nothing to do with it.

According to its creators, this concept features a combination of Buick’s “dynamic, fluid, quiet and comfortable” design and local aesthetics in order to satisfy the tastes of the Chinese market.

Though the teaser that can be seen in the adjacent images doesn’t show much, the Envision Concept SUV is to come with an elegant exterior that is both modern and sporty. In fact, it will use the Chevrolet Captiva - a 7-seater SUV - as a base.

Technical details are still sketchy at this point, but what we do know us that besides featuring a number of new technologies, the concept that is to make its world debut in Shanghai next month, will be powered by a plug-in hybrid system.

However, the exact details, including whether this will stay as a design exercise or it will be used as a base for a future Buick global model, are to be fully presented at the upcoming Chinese show, so stay tuned.
