Bugatti Veyron Lands in Salt Water Lagoon

Do you ever get that weird feeling that it just isn’t your day? Well, for an American Bugatti Veyron owner who wished to remain anonymous things got pretty bad, as he found out that his beloved supercar does not float.

According to pistonheads.com, the man was enjoying his ride down the highway when he got distracted by a low-flying pelican. He got scared and dropped his mobile phone on the floor. After that, things got a little out of control, as the car jumped off Interstate 45 and stopped into a lagoon, in about two feet of salty water.

As this wasn’t enough, the engine ran for about another 15 minutes before he stopped on its own. The man suffered no injuries, except to his self esteem and his bank account; the car was in pretty bad shape, as you can see in the video below.

The Bugatti Veyron is a mid-engine grand tourer developed by Volkswagen and produced by Bugatti Automobiles SAS at their headquarters in Château St. Jean in Molsheim, France. It’s one of the fastest cars in production and, of course, one of the most expensive one. It is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans back in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti company.

Officially, about two hundred Veyrons are known to have been built and delivered since production began through late 2008. And if we’re counting a few other accidents in which they have been involved, they might soon become extinct.
