Bugatti's 100th Celebration at Concorso d'Eleganza

The recently concluded Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este was the main attraction for automotive "connoisseurs" over the weekend. This year, the event was host to a wide range of anniversaries, as Morgan, Zagato or Bugatti celebrated decades since their first appearance under the spotlight.

Bugatti came at the show, as a means of celebrating its centenary, with cars from both their beginning era and modern times. Thus, Villa d’Este was host of four Etiore Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix. alongside the manufacturer's latest, the Veyron.

All of the eight models were painted in four colors, for both the Veyron and the Type 35 Grand Prix: blue for France, red for Italy, green for England and white for Germany. The Type 35s, which scored countless racing victories in the 1920s and 1930s, were piloted by world-famous race-car drivers.

As for the Veyron Specials, each of them was named after a Bugatti race-car driver of that era. The blue Veyron was named after Jean-Pierre Wimille, the red one after Achille Varzi the green one in honor of Malcolm Campbell while the white one got the name of Hermann zu Leiningen.

We have put a lot of effort into translating colour and material, the defining characteristics of our historic role models, into the designs of the modern-day Veyrons,” Alasdair Stewart, Bugatti Director Sales and Marketing said at the event. “We have taken extreme care to match the original colors of the original race cars, exterior and interior.

Ahead of the presentation on Saturday, the company has been represented in the park of Villa d’Este by a special-display-class exhibition of models, which will serve to portray the 100-year history of the brand.
