From its unique exterior design to its revolutionary eight-liter W16 engine, the Chiron is a work of automotive art. To capture its refinement, performance, and precision, Bugatti partnered with luxury watchmaker Jacob & Co., giving birth to one of the most unique timepieces ever created.
Since its introduction in April 2020, the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon has given both owners and enthusiasts a chance to wear a piece of hypercar-inspired craftsmanship on their wrists.
This luxury timepiece created by Jacob & Co. is now available in four new limited editions that embody the creativity, perseverance, and skill portrayed by the Chiron.
It all started with the common goal of reproducing the primeval thrill of the iconic 16-cylinder engine in a timepiece, and after a full year of development, the American watchmaker showcased this amazing timepiece that, for the first time in company history, features a thirty-degree inclined tourbillon.
The "flying" portion of the tourbillon indicates that the controlling structure is only supported on one side, so the mechanism is even more captivating.
However, the highlight of this marvelous work of art is the highly accurate reproduction of the 16-cylinder engine. Pushing the right-hand crown turns the crankshaft and brings the pistons to life, resulting in an astonishing animation that showcases a level of craftsmanship close to perfection.
All 578 intricately crafted components are suspended in four points that look like the Chiron’s absorbers. They are covered by a sapphire crystal case inspired by the shape of the car and even features the iconic horseshoe grille.
At the bottom of the case, three crowns are also inspired by the Chiron’s design elements. The left one sets the time, the middle crown winds both the movement and the animation, while pushing the right one starts the animation.
The power reserves for the animation and timekeeping are separate, yet both are wound through the middle crown, clockwise for the movement and counterclockwise for the engine animation.
The new versions of this amazing timepiece feature new material choices for ultimate personalization. The first is made from a solid block of sapphire crystal with the case back, crowns, and pushers crafted from the same material. It includes a rubber strap with a titanium buckle clasp.
The second version, which is limited to 72 pieces, features an 18-karat Rose Gold case, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass, an 18-karat Rose Gold open case back, and black DLC titanium crowns embossed with the Bugatti logo. It also includes a rubber strap with a buckle clasp made from black DLC titanium and 18-karat Rose Gold.
Limited to 52 pieces, the third new version has a case made of 18-karat Rose Gold material and sparkling white diamonds, an anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass, plus an 18-karat Rose Gold open case back.
The crowns and pushers are made of 18-karat Rose Gold and feature baguette white diamonds, which are also embossed with the Bugatti logo. The timepiece is secured to the wrist by a rubber strap with an 18-karat Rose Gold buckle clasp adorned with white diamonds.
The final version of this incredible watch, which embodies the definition of premium luxury, features an 18-karat White Gold case festooned with 391 black and white diamonds. The 18-karat White Gold open case back is paired with baguette white diamonds crowns and pushers, while the rubber strap and 18-karat White Gold buckle clasp are also decorated with 18 white diamonds.
Jacob & Co. and Bugatti managed to seamlessly combine the excellence and exclusivity of the Chiron with the outstanding craftsmanship of premium watchmaking, resulting in one of the most mind-blowing timepieces ever created.
To own one of these unique new versions, customers can expect to pay around $1.2 million for the ‘mid-level’ Sapphire Glass Chrystal. Prices for the other limited versions that feature diamonds have yet to be announced, but we’re expecting them to sell for over $2 million, which is more than what an actual Veyron cost.
