A German used car dealer, located southwest of Munich, whose portfolio counts all kinds of vehicles, just got its hands on a build slot for the Bugatti Mistral, and they are looking to make a quick buck off it.
They haven’t mentioned anything about the color of this ultra-limited hypercar, which means that the person who signs their name on the dotted line might just be able to choose the shade that they like best. Nevertheless, we’d recommend reading the papers in the presence of a lawyer and double-checking with the Molsheim company just to make sure that everything checks out, before transferring the sum.

But what sum are we talking about? Well, this is one of 99 copies that will ever see the light of day, and it is a Bugatti, so you know it is the opposite of a bargain, don’t you? The Mobile ad reveals an asking price of €6,650,000 or just a little over $6.6 million at today’s exchange rates. The listing also says that the owner will take possession of this prized jewel after May 1st, 2024, and that the car will only have the delivery miles under its belt.

If you somehow missed our initial coverage on the Mistral, we will remind you that this is Bugatti’s first open-top model based on the Chiron and that it is their first convertible since the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. It is also a final ode to the fabulous quad-turbo W16 engine, as it will be put to sleep. With 8.0 liters in displacement, the mill was lifted from the Super Sport and Super Sport 300+ and makes an identical 1,600 ps (1,577 hp / 1,177 kW) and 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb-ft) of torque. The SS 300+ was clocked at 490.484 kph (304.773 mph) back in 2019, at the Ehra Lessien track, which is owned by Volkswagen.

Since the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse used to be the fastest production roadster out there, with 409 kph (254 mph) hit in 2013, we think that Bugatti might attempt to steal the show from Hennessey’s Venom GT Spyder, which did 413 kph (256.6 mph) three years later. This is highlighted by a paragraph in the official press release that says that the instruments are “easily visible up to 420 kph (260 mph).” Nonetheless, Bugatti’s alleged record attempt might not be future-proof, as the same Hennessey is now looking to hit 483 kph (300 mph) with the Venom F5 Spyder.

While the Bugatti Mistral shares its underpinnings with the Chiron, it looks nothing like its more mainstream sibling, whose production is capped at 500 units. As a matter of fact, it does have a Maserati MC20 Cielo flair to it. Also, it was named after a wind in the South of France, and we reckon that the trident brand wasn’t (and still isn’t) happy about it, as they used to hold on to the moniker, using it on a gran turismo in the 1960s, which was offered in two body styles, with front-engine, and rear-wheel drive layout. The Maserati Mistral was succeeded by the classic Ghibli, sketched out by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Ghia, and it was replaced by the Khamsin and Bora.

Now, paying almost six million dollars for the Mistral is anything but a steal, and one could buy almost two Chirons for that kind of money. They could also get a brand-new exotic from a European car firm, and they would be able to start their taxi company with a fleet of V8-powered muscle cars. That said, would you get the Mistral if you could afford it, or would you spend your Benjamins on something else? As far as I’m concerned, I’d still stick to my ideal three-car garage.
