You know how every team of Photoshop artists that announced the "introduction" of a new supercar or aftermarket developer introducing a new project mentioned that its fresh metal rivals the Bugatti Veyron because it has God knows what hp rating? Well, it seems that Bugatti want to avoid a similar situation with the Galibier and has put the project on hold in order to develop a more powerful engine.
According to Insideline, the company's new boss Wolfgang Durheimer has decided that the car needs much more than 800 hp in order to become a game changer.
"It's 800 horsepower now, but there are tuners today who can give you that and we don't want our car to be involved in any discussion that involves tuners, so we have to move the benchmarks," the executive was quoted as saying by the aforementioned source.
And the story doesn't end here, as Durheimer seems determined to up the ante on all fronts, challenging the engineers and designer to offer more than the best in team of performance and comfort. It seems that another issue that he was disappointed of was the space in the rear area, a key one for a luxurious ride like the Galibier
The executive want the Galibier to be a car that leaves you speechless, a car so good in every possible way that it doesn't need a complex presentation to impress.
What can we say? Over the years, we've had quite a few unpleasant surprises while testing certain top-class cars, so we couldn't agree more with this philosophy.
