Belts are no longer seen just like an object used to hold your pants, but they have also evolved into a true accessory for many, with the buckle being the X-factor in the customers’ choice. The Breitling for Bentley Supersports Light Body watch was not the only automotive-related luxury accessory presented in Geneva last week, as a mechanical belt buckle for discerning gentlemen, developed by Roland Iten and Bugatti, is a show-stopper as well.

Dubbed R22 Mk. I- 22mm, Bugatti edition mechanical buckle by Roland Iten comprises no less than 100 components in solid white gold with rose gold accents, lightweight titanium and stainless steel.

As many of you know, traditional belts come in lengths of 90, 100, 110 or 120 cm, but the 22 Mk.I-22mm is micro customizable to any size, whether it is 87.29, 99.45 or 108.98 cm.

This means that the mechanism allows for a perfect adjustment to the exact waist measurement, but affords an expansion range of 22mm thanks to a unique reverse engineered “engrenage” invention which is discreetly cached under the “hood” of the buckle.

“When you turn the ignition of a Bugatti, it doesn’t roar into action like so many sports cars, it turns over flawlessly, a sound that reveals the highest level of tuning and results in phenomenal car speeds of over 400 km/h,” explains Iten.

Limited to 22 units, the belt buckle in question has been entirely handcrafted, polished and assembled by R Magnin Bijouterie, watch-making master craftsmen in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Piece 00/00 in Solid White Gold is currently on display at the Swiss venue for those of you who want to take a closer look.
