At the beginning of September, Bugatti let the world know that its Chiron is officially the fastest series production car in the world, having achieved a speed of over 300 mph. To do this, some modifications were made to the vehicle, and now these changes will make their way into a production run.
To set the record speed of 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h), the Chiron grew a bit longer and received several upgrades intended to increase aerodynamics and generate extra downforce. All these upgrades will now be featured on a limited run of the Chiron called Super Sport 300+.

Bugatti will make only 30 units of this series. All will have air curtains installed at the front corners, air outlets on the wheel arch and directly behind the front wheels, and the elongated Longtail rear end. This comes complete with the modified exhaust tailpipe configuration meant to keep the wing retracted when the car drives in Top Speed mode.

The body of the car is made of exposed, jet-black carbon fibre with racing stripes in Jet Orange. Light magnesium wheels transfer the 1,600 hp of the engine to the road.

Inside, Super Sport 300+ lettering is highlighted with LED lights as soon as the doors are opened. The interior is wrapped in black carbon, leather and Alcantara in Beluga Black, with Jet Orange accents.

“With the Super Sport 300+ we pay homage not just to our glorious history with its numerous speed records but also to the performance of the entire record-breaking team. They were the ones who tackled the challenge of driving over 300 miles per hour,” said in a statement Stephan Winkelmann, Bugatti president.

“For this reason, the Super Sport 300+ is more than just an edition. It is by far the fastest luxury hyper sports car in the world and a genuine Bugatti in every fiber of its being – uncompromisingly beautiful, fast, comfortable and exquisite.”

The special edition Chiron was already shown to a lucky few during a private event last weekend. Each of the 30 units will be delivered starting 2021, in exchange for €3.5 million ($3.8 million).
