The Chiron has been testing under the guise of a regular Veyron prototype for about a year. But we believe that these vehicles are much closer to the final production form. Rumor has it that clients from around the world are being treated to the full reveal behind closed doors. Why? Well, this is going to be a $2.5 million car, and if the rich of the world don't like it, that's a problem.
Many years ago, Bugatti did the same thing with a sedan model it wanted to put into production. Rumor had it that the W16 engine was going to be pulled down to just 800 horsepower to make it more usable, while the Bugatti brand would take a more mainstream approach to selling cars.
Sadly, the customer response was overwhelmingly negative, so they scrapped that idea and went back the drawing board. What they came up with was this, the Chiron. The second video we are showing you should give you a good idea of what's under the camouflage.
It's named after the most powerful centaur in Greek mythology, known or this youth-nurturing skills and vast knowledge in the fields of medicine, archery, hunting, prophesy and music. The Bugatti Hypercar is a bit like that as well, as it will combine the trademark 16-cylinder engine with an electric motor to deliver somewhere around 1,500 horsepower.
It's clear that the Bugatti brand is coming back with a vengeance, ready to pick fights with Ferrari, Porsche, and McLaren.
