Bugatti Chiron Hits the Drag Strip, Drops 9s 1/4-Mile Run

If you take a look at the specs of the Bugatti Chiron, it becomes obvious that this is the kind of machine which adores the racetrack. So taking it to a drag strip, for instance, sounds like a dream.

However, the real world has some surprises for us - when the driver of a Chiron recently took the thing to the strip, things didn't quite work out simply.

You see, the 1,500 horsepower monster has multiple driving modes, which obviously influence elements like the electronic nannies and the active rear wing.

Well, the one behind the wheel tried to go through these mods, while even turning to the good old brake boosting trick. Well, the latter was particularly unpleasant for the car, which decided to bog.

Despite the man's best efforts and a bit of help for aficionados who know their way around hooning supercars and hypercars, it took a while to dial the thing in.

Eventually, the quad-turbo W16 behemoth descended into the 9s quarter-mile arena, with a trap speed of almost 150 mph.

As you can imagine, the Chiron, be it this example or another one, will return to the drag strip soon and we can't wait to see the thing running at its full potential.
