At first, it might seem like the rendering seen here is nothing more than one of the internet's attempts to mess with a young legend such as the Bugatti Chiron.
However, the added pair of doors has a much more important story to tell - we must tip our pixels to digital artist X-Tomi for delivering the image.
It all has to do with the Bugatti sedan that was previewed by the Galibier 16C Concept back in 2009 (check out the image gallery). You see, Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Durheimer had planned for the practical Molsheim machine to enter production, but while he was serving Audi, his replacement Wolfgang Schreiber axed the sedan, much like it happened with various Bentley proposals - the VW Group scheme means the two crown jewel brands get the same CEO.
Now that Durheimer is back at the helm of the French brand, he has expressed his intentions to put a four-door Bug into production. Nevertheless, things aren't that simple.
With the Dieselgate scandal have raised the caution level among investors up to the point that selling the brand altogether was considered at a certain point. While Bugatti overcame that potential crisis, its VW Group safety depends on the profit it brings.
While the automaker lost money on each Veyron it sold, things have changed with the Chiron. The latter brought Bugatti back in the black and it all started with the automaker applying many of the lessons learned with the Veyron to increase the efficiency of the design and production process. Factor in the fact that the "average" Chiron client spends around $330,000 on options and it all starts making sense.
Even so, Bugatti has decided to skip a Roadster incarnation of the Chiron and thus the potential sedan can't come to the market just because the CEO favors this model over the other three options currently being considered for a second model line.
The other potential future Bugattis include the obvious SUV, an electric vehicle, as well as a more affordable go-fast vehicle. While Lamborghini ditched the 2008 Estoque sedan concept to build the Urus SUV, it's still too early to make Bugatti-related predictions.
