Let's say you find yourself behind the wheel of a Bugatti Chiron and have decided to take your machine to a drag racing event. What kind of opponents can you expect? You might imagine that the answers only include machines with four-digit outputs or at least those who come with favorable power-to-weight ratios. Well, you'd be wrong, as there are plenty of drivers with obviously slower vehicles that choose to battle the hypercar for the fun of it.
And the latest example of this comes from the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, which shows the Bugatti Chiron duking it out with a Mercedes-AMG GT R.

It's worth noting that the Affalterbach toy has been touched by the aftermarket wand. Thanks to Renntech work, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 of the German monster has jumped from 585 to 750 ponies.

Then again, the said output only makes for half the Chiron's power. And while the W16 bearer is heavier, the weight difference between the two only sits at about 300 kg (670 lbs), so it's nowhere near enough o offset the muscle gap.

Note that the two velocity tools met during an event that involved a rolling start (think: 50 km/h or 31 mph). The race involved a one-kilomter run, with the Chiron going all the way to 328 km/h, while the GT R delivered a trap speed of 276 km/h. As for the 992.1 Porsche 911 Turbo you'll also get to see in the clip, this climbed to 306 km/h.

Now, all this Bugatti drag racing talk might have gotten you into the mood for even more Chiron drag racing. Well, getting greedy when it comes to checking out 1,500 ponies being put to work is normal. In fact, we've shown you the Bug engaging in sprinting fights on multiple occasions.

One of the most entertaining such battles we've featured to date came from the same event we have here. Nevertheless, the hypercar duked it out with a sleeper, namely an old Audi S4. And with the Ingolstadt surprise machine having been pushed all the way to 1,300 horsepower, the brawl didn't exactly come easy for the Chiron.

Speaking of tuner cars, here's the Bugatti duking it out with a heavily modded example of the Nissan GT-R. Godzilla had spent quite a lot of time at the gym, with its V6 delivering at least 1,300 ponies.

The Chiron also drag raced another Bugatti, namely a Veyron. Keep in mind that the opponent of the Chiron was an SS incarnation of the Veyron, which meant the horsepower gap between the two was limited to 300 hp.
