As those who are familiar to the world of drag racing know, the Porsche 918 Spyder is no stranger to such battles, even though the hybrid hypercar obviously isn't a constant presence among sprinters. Well, we can hardly say the same thing about the Bugatti Chiron, but, fortunately, you can now use an extra finger to count the number of drag races involving the Molsheim monster.
Oh, and it gets better, since the Chiron I'm talking about duked it out with... a Porsche 918 Spyder.

The hypercars got together during an event called Supercar Owners Circle, which is held in Andermatt, Switzerland (of course). This is the kind of gathering that makes the ipossible happen, as, for instance, previous editions have seen the Porsche 911 GT1 drag racing the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR.

The event actually saw plenty of other poster machines going at it, with the list involving a second Porsche 918 Spyder (yes, you Porschephiles, both cars had the Weissach Pack), as well as a second Molsheim machine (think: Veyron Grand Sport L'Or Blanc), Zenvo TSR-S, together with a Pagani Huayra.

Alas, many of the races were affected by the humans playing the role of a Christmas Tree, but the confrontation between the 918 Spyder and the Chiron went according to plan.

As mentioned in the title, the aficionado behind the wheel of the 887 hp Porsche kept the tension alive by displaying a better reaction time than the driver of the 1,500 hp Bug, which gave the Porsche an advantage for the initial phase of the race.

However, before you get to see this four-million [insert desired currency here] drag race at the 3:50 point of the clip below, there's one aspect you need to considered.

According to magazine testing, the considerably lighter Porsche 918 Spyder would've had the edge anyway in terms of sub-90 mph (150 km/h) sprinting.

Update:Here's another series of drag races from the said event, with this involving a Koenigsegg vs. Koenigsegg battle, among others.
