Bugatti "Arrow" Concept Looks Fit for Le Mans Hypercar Racing Class

Given the kind of velocity numbers that describe Bugattis, it can be difficult to believe that no Bugatti has finished a Le Mans race following WWII. But what if Molsheim decided to change all that? The independent artist rendering we have here comes to deliver a striking visual answer to that question.

Truth be told, not too many Bugatti tried to enter the famous Circuit de la Sarthe endurance battle - back in 1994, an EB110 soldiered on (its best position was #6) before a tire failure caused it to meet the barrier with less than sixty minutes to go. And, to this day, that is the only Bug to have entered the French race since a T57C grabbed the company's second win back in 1939.

However, the chances of the horseshoe grille returning to Le Mans are greater than they used to be, especially now that the top LMP1 tier is being replaced with the LMH (Le Mans Hypercar) class.

Announced back in 2018 and set to enter stage this year, for the 2020/2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, this class is nothing short of a modern homologation special adventure. To be more precise, twenty street-legal units of each racer must be built, with both internal combustion-only and hybrid entries being allowed.

So far, plenty of names have either confirmed their participation or expressed interest in the series, with the list ranging from Toyota's Gazoo Racing, Aston Martin, Peugeot (from 2022 onwards), Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, as well as Mercedes-AMG and McLaren.

Bugatti hasn't mentioned anything on the matter so far. Nevertheless, independent designer Florian Dobe has come up with a contraption that appears to fit the bill, which you'll find in the Instagram posts below.

Compared to the Chiron and its derivatives (think: Divo, Centodieci and La Voiture Noire), the rendered model appears quite different, which obviously brings extra identity points.

As for the artist who gave us this eye candy, you should know the car lover is currently a senior exterior designer for the Nio EV Chinese startup (you might know the company thanks to its Nurburgring efforts).
