Buemi Puts 3 Kg of Muscles On Before 2011 Season

If we are to look at Scuderia Toro Rosso's lineup this season, we can arguably put our money on one thing: this will be Sebastien Buemi's last chance of proving that he deserves a place in the Red Bull organization, as it will be his 3rd consecutive season driving a STR car. And unless he'll make a great impression this year, Daniel Ricciardo is right there asking for a shot at F1 staredom.

Having said that, and with Buemi probably realizing it himself, the Swiss driver has already began making some decisions prior to the 2011 campaign. The first one we've reported a while back, when Buemi announced Finnish physio Antti Kontsas as his new fitness trainer for the season to come.

At the same time, Buemi confirmed he will have a new chief mechanic, but that's not really related to this piece of news. As it turns out, Buemi put on some 3 kilograms lately, after he started working with Kontsas, all of which are reportedly muscle bulk.

I am now 66 kilos,” revealed Buemi recently, according to Switzerland's Blick newspaper. “In Bahrain, I have to be ahead of Alguersuari in qualifying and the race,” he added, giving everyone a hint on how the 22-year old Swiss will tackle the entire 2011 season.

The news comes in contrast with the latest reports on how F1 drivers choose to prepare for the season to come. To be more precise, the majority of them are trying to lose kilos to counteract the weight effects of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), with Fernando Alonso and Rubens Barrichello having recently confirmed plans to lose weight prior to the 2011 season.
