Buemi Outpaces Vettel in Jerez Testing

Sebastien Buemi topped the testing sheets at Jerez once again on Tuesday. The Swiss driver, currently running for a racing seat with Scuderia Toro Rosso next year, outpaced nearest rival Sebastian Vettel by more than three tens of a second, completing another dominating day at the Spanish circuit.

As compared to yesterday, the GP2 driver had to run against F1 drivers only, but still managed to end the day with the quickest time. With BMW's Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld focusing on running the new aerodynamic package and KERS unit, the only real competition for Buemi was Vettel. Both drivers competed on Red Bull Racing machineries (powered by Renault engines).

“It's been a very good test so far, we've been improving with every lap, which is really good for next season and I'm happy. We're learning more about the slick tires too, which is important. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and trying to improve myself more,” said Buemi after the testing session on Tuesday.

The Swiss was initially due to test for Red Bull for a single day this week, but was offered an extra 2 days of on-track testing as Mark Webber is yet to recover from his injury in the Tasmanian Challenge. Today will be the last testing session of the year for Buemi, who will be spending the rest of the year waiting for a confirmation call from the Toro Rosso outfit.

Kazuki Nakajima also ran a few laps on yesterday, setting the 5th (and last) time of the day in the Williams car.

1. Sebastien Buemi          Red Bull            1:17.029
2. Sebastian Vettel           Red Bull            1:17.319
