Buemi Becomes New Water Sliding Record Holder in Switzerland

Some F1 drivers use their winter break to enjoy some quality time with their families and friends, while others let their competitive nature take control and engage in some other interesting challenges. While many of you may believe we're talking about karting events – that's usually how F1 drivers relax in between races – in Sebastien Buemi's case things have changed a bit.

While his teammate Jaime Alguersuari has an outspoken passion for playing a DJ role in night clubs, Buemi's hidden dream was to become record holder at water sliding. And he finally got to fulfill his dream earlier this month, as he set a new Swiss record in the discipline.

The competition took place at Aquaparc in Le Bouveret, Switzerland, and involved Buemi sliding down three high-speed water slides. Not only he did it in a heartbeat, but he also scored the best time, earning him a place in the Swiss water sliding history book.

I have a competitive spirit, whatever game I am taking part in,” said the 22-year old driver after the competition ended, according to Le Nouvelliste. “It can be dangerous in the sense that you can slip over, that's true. But I was careful,” he added.

Considering that Toro Rosso's bigger sister Red Bull has an unpleasant history when it comes to letting its drivers do extreme or close to extreme sports – Mark Webber's severe cycling accident during his own-sponsored Tasmania Challenge is sole proof of that – one would wonder if the Faenza officials knew about Buemi's strange passion.

Before coming, I got the 'OK' from my team,” assured Buemi.
