The Nurburgring isn't called the Green Hell for no reason. Every week or so, a car has a major accident there, and the latest victim is a SEAT Ibiza.
This crash video keeps it nice and short with 28 seconds of footage detailing a nightmare scenario for many drivers: ABS failure. However, there's also a longer clip of all the tourist track action that day for those of you who have the time.
We're dealing with a white 3-door Ibiza FR, probably an early model from about 2010 to 2013. Not that it matters. We just thought you guys might be curious if it's pre-facelift and stuff like that. With that bumper, it can't be a Cupra either.
What's interesting about this crash is that the car isn't going that fast. Maybe the driver applied a little bit of brake to correct his line or because he got a little scared, but it all goes bad. As the tires begin to scream, smoke pours out from the right side, followed by the left. You almost never hear that sound these days, and it indicates the ABS isn't working. The black tire marks on the ground are something else you don't see modern cars doing.
With the brakes locked, the Ibiza loses control and smashes into the track barrier. The impact against the Amrco is so strong that it sends the car into the air and almost flips it over.
The airbags are instantly deployed, and moments later we see how severe the damage is. One front wheel is almost coming off the car, while the front end is unrecognizable. It's a write-off, but both the driver and his passenger emerge from the Ibiza, perhaps concerned for their safety. So you could say that the crash had a happy ending, even though it's going to prove financially costly.
