Bruno Senna Worried About F1 Future

Something just doesn't click when you put Bruno Senna and Formula One in the same sentence. The nephew of the former 3-time world champion Ayrton Senna has been struggling for quite some time to secure a future in the series.

His first shot came with Brawn GP, but he was eventually left out in the cold in favor of Rubens Barrichello. In 2010, he signed a deal with Hispania Racing F1 Team, yet the poor machine he was provided with through his debut season kept him from disclosing his true capabilities as a race driver. Consequently, his future in F1 is in doubt, as nobody now knows the true potential of the former GP2 runner-up.

Currently, Senna finds himself in Brazil, while his management is looking for a spare spot in the 2011 campaign. And the 27-year old is very frank on his prospects for the future, admitting that he would settle for any seat, as long as it's a racing one (reserve or testing jobs are excluded from the get go).

There is nothing definite (for 2011),” said Senna, according to Brazil's Globo Esporte. “I am still negotiating but it is not easy to find a free seat.” Asked to elaborate on the teams he is in contact with, Senna said “those with free seats.”

There are currently 4 teams with vacancies for the 2011 campaign, but two of them seem out of reach for the Brazilian driver (Force India and Renault F1 Team). The other two, Virgin Racing and HRT F1 are clearly seeking pay driver commitments for next year, so a good sponsorship deal might get him through another season in 2011.

Until recently, Senna was in the running for a seat with Lotus Racing F1 – now named Team Lotus – but media reports in Brazil hinted that those negotiations failed. In fact, according to inside sources, the Norfolk based organization will almost 100 percent maintain its drivers lineup for 2011 unchanged (Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen).
