Canadian manufacturer Bombardier Recreational Products, better known by its abbreviated moniker BRP, is looking forward to expanding its dealership network.
It looks like business is going quite well for BRP, as the company signed no less than 38 new dealers in the last fiscal year. BRP was hoping for 35-40 new dealers, so the result is as close as it gets to the estimated figures. BRP is looking forward to add 65 to 75 new dealers during the 2015 fiscal year, and hopes to end the fiscal year 2017 with a much heftier amount of new dealers, 200 to 300.
The last fiscal year saw year-round products fetching in more money than seasonal ones, such as snowmobiles and personal watercraft. Annual revenues for the recently-over FY have been 10.3% bigger than the same figures for the former year, triggering a natural expansion for all the BRM brands.
BRP will include all its brands in the expansion of the dealer network: Ski-Doo, Lynx, Sea-Doo, Evinrude, Can-Am and ROTAX. The motorcycle (Spyder) division’s sales were flat for the year, President/CEO Jose Boisjoli said.
BRP introduced a new Can-Am Spyder RT with massive upgrades at the end of 2013, powered by an all-new Rotax 1330 engine, but with winter approaching, the move did not have a big impact on the sales in the motorcycle segment. At the same time, 2014 will see the new Sea-Doo Spark personal watercraft making it into all dealerships. Given the very affordable price of the Spark, it is expected that its introduction will make a difference.
Boisjoli did not mention all the areas targeted for the expansion of the dealer network, but added that multiline dealers are welcome, and that the company is looking for dealers to add some or all BRP product lines.
