Data acquired by insurance company LV= Liverpool Victoria shows that a certain fixed camera in the Greater Manchester area of the M60 made a whopping £189,140 last year alone from speeding offences, which translates to $324,076 or €238,187 at current exchange rates. The British police force issued some 400,000 speeding penalty notices in total or three percent more compared to the year 2012.
If your daily commute involves a bit of the M60, then be wary of the camera on Junction 25, that managed to snap incriminating pictures of 9,326 drivers the former year. The report also tells that the fixed camera on the westbound stretch of the A13 Thames Gateway to Stratton Terrance is also a high grosser, followed by another one fitted at the side of the M54 between Junction 1 and 3 in Staffordshire.

For every 67 miles of U.K. road there's a fixed or mobile speed camera waiting to catch you speeding according to the study. 58 percent of motorists have been caught speeding by one of the 3,353 fixed speed cameras scattered throughout the United Kingdom, while one in three drivers have been done in by police with a camera at the side of the road. Only 12 percent of speeding motorists were caught by police without a camera. Worringly, one in seven drivers have been caught speeding over the last five years, with 22 percent of them more than once.

“It can be easy for motorists to become complacent when they get behind the wheel, especially when they drive on the same roads day in and day out," declared John O'Roarke, managing director of LV= Liverpool Victoria. "It's important that drivers always concentrate on the road so they can spot any new road signs, changes in speed limits, and are aware of what other motorists are doing.” If you were wondering what's the fastest speed caught on camera so far on British roads in 2014, a certain fellow managed to do 146 miles per hour on the M25 in Swanley.
