Good things come to those who wait least expect it. Just ask Saul, a stray ginger cat who was found in London, after he’d been run over by a car and the driver didn’t even bother to stop and see if he was ok.
Saul is now in the care of the RSPCA’s Putney Animal Hospital in London and his story has touched many hearts. He won just as many with his grumpy, sour expression, which earned him the nickname of “Grumpy 2.0.”
On a more serious note, Saul will be ok. RSPCA London Veterinary Director Caroline Allen tells Fox News that he was injured pretty badly when he was run over by the car, but he will be ok. He’s had his jaw wired, which accounts for his grumpy expression. The injuries sustained in the head also do, and his carers believe he will retain some of that sourness even after he’s fully recovered, because the trauma was severe.
“He was in a very sorry state with and had discharge coming from his eyes and nose and looked very poorly indeed,” Allen says. “We believe he was involved in a road traffic accident as we found he had injured his jaw, teeth and one eye - all leading to his rather unique look.”
When Saul’s recovery is complete, he will go up for adoption – and Allen believes he will land a loving home because he’s unlike anything he appears to be. Heck, he even has star potential, so who wouldn’t love the chance to make some money off his expression, like it happened with the OG Grumpy Cat?
“Whether he’s being showered with attention and games to play or spoiled with treats, Saul’s face does little to suggest he’s enjoying himself – although he does occasionally treat them to a cheeky tongue out,” Allen adds. “Despite his constant scowl, Saul’s actually really sweet and friendly.”
