Briscoe Secures 2011 Deal with Team Penske

Ryan Briscoe will continue his adventure with Team Penske in the IndyCar season for at least one more season, after the very sponsor of the IRL, IZOD, stepped in and secured some of the needed financial backing for the Australian driver in 2011.

Although some doubts were cast over Briscoe's future collaboration with Penske – the team was unsure whether it will be able to field 3 cars in the 2011 campaign – it now seems the Aussie will drive alongside Helio Castroneves and Will Power on a full-time basis next year. IZOD will provide only partial sponsorship for Briscoe, including his drive in the Indy 500 race.

It's huge. And just to be associated with Team Penske is an amazing feeling,” admitted Briscoe in a team statement.

I mean, ever since I came to the team back in 2007, you really feel like you've reached the pinnacle. They're the best. And no driver would want to be anywhere else. And to be able to keep this relationship going, for me it's so important.”

Getting these announcements coming out, having so much momentum with the team and the sponsors coming on board, it's really keeping everyone fired up on the team. Especially myself. But all the engineers, all the mechanics, everyone's really excited about next year,” added Briscoe, who ended last year's campaign in 5th place, with a sole win in his pocket, at the Texas Motor Speedway.

We just missed out on the championship this year, but we don't want to let another one slip by. And I just can't wait. I'm just so excited for many reasons. And the first to be back with Team Penske with this opportunity and then now to be carrying the IZOD brand, it's just huge.”
