Anthony Mautemps and his wife are the ones behind the Bridge City Cycles, a Portland, Oregon-based workshop specializing in both vintage and classic motorcycles. One of the latest bikes to come out of their shop is an old Honda CB550, brought in by its very owner Mike Johnson, with extensive repairs needed.
And since the poor bike needed so much work, Mike thought of an even more extensive job to transform what he used to call "junk" into a nifty cafe-racer, well-worth to ride around the city and turn lots of heads.

The engine was in a pretty bad shape and it ended with extensive rebuilding, new rings, a new cam, and of course, the all-time favorite black powder coating. The carbs themselves got the same treatment for an eye-pleasing match. A custom ribbed seat was commissioned and the bike got premium metal flake/ candy paint job with classic pinstripes for the tank, custom rear cowl and miniature windscreen.

The resulting cafe-racer looks clean and neat and we totally dig the retro tail light, even though the mini blinkers could have been different and maybe match the whole new character of the bike better. But as the owner of this Honda CB550 couldn't be happier with the result of all the toils, we'll just end it all here, with a content smile, too.
