Briatore: Brawn GP Impossible to Catch!

Although he heavily criticized both Ross Brawn – because of the rear diffuser saga – and Jenson Button – whom he called an out-of-work F1 driver – Renault boss Flavio Briatore admitted it would be close to impossible for anyone to catch those two in the constructors' and drivers' race.

Brawn GP are currently on 68 points in the constructors' classification – some 29.5 points clear of Red Bull Racing – while the British driver is 14 points clear of teammate Rubens Barrichello in the drivers' standings. Button won no less than 4 races (out of 5) this season, alongside one podium finish in China.

Considering they are way ahead of their competition in terms of double diffuser development, and that they've already secured a good financial package for the 2009 season – even without the money from the Formula One Management – Briatore argued there is little anyone can do to upset the Brackley-based team in the title race.

In formula one nearly everything is possible, but I believe it is very difficult another team can win the title. They are well financed, and can develop further their car without problems, and for the competition that is a problem,” admitted the 59-year old Italian in an interview with Germany's Die Welt newspaper.

Looking ahead to Monaco, it's worth mentioning than neither of the two Brawn GP drivers have won a race in the Principality, something they'll be looking to change this year. The team is expected to make some slight adjustments to the BGP001 this weekend, considering the slow speed nature of the Monte Carlo track.
